Centre for Sociology, Anthropology and Politics Associate 2008
Award for Dr Àngels Trias i Valls.
The 2008 award for Associateship in Anthropology has been given
to Dr Àngels Trias i Valls, iCES Senior Research Assistant. In
addition to the Associateship status Dr Trias i Valls has been
awarded a £1000 grant for various research and dissemination
projects.
According to The Higher Education Academy Network for C-SAP
(Centre for Sociology, Anthropology and Politics) awards website:
"Associates are individuals who have developed expertise in a
particular pedagogic area or who have emerging interests in an area
of innovation. Associates will contribute to knowledge in the field
through a workshop or resource and act as an ambassador for C-SAP
in their own networks".
An active member of C-SAP since 2001, Dr Trias i Valls
contributes to C-SAP through participation at conferences,
production of workshops and presentation of papers. Dr Trias i
Valls is also present in C-SAP as an anthropology delegate for the
Anthropology Reference Group and for BSA/C-SAP Gender Study
Group.
Dr Trias i Valls was the C-SAP ambassador for the University of
Wales Lampeter, a role that, since her incorporation to iCES, she
has extended through iCES to Regent's College.
Associateship Event
One of the outcomes of the associateship will take form of a
conference/workshop. In early 2009 Dr Àngels Trias i Valls will be
leading a conference/workshop at the Institute of Contemporary
European Studies at ESBL, Regent's College on the themes of:
'Economies of Crisis in a Global Europe':
Anthropological Responses to the 'Economic Crisis'.
'Doing Fieldwork in London: supporting young
researchers'
Other outcomes of the associateship will include a publication
of the conference findings and a dedicated webspace.
