EBS London 2007 International Lecture

Brazil: Economic Perspectives in the 21st Century

Wednesday 9th May at 6.30pm in Tuke Hall

Goldman Sachs Global Economist, Jim O'Neill in his 2003 report Dreaming with BRICS: The Path to 2050, predicts the economic potential of Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC) will become the four most dominant economies by the year 2050.

This would result in the BRIC economies encompassing 40% of the world population with a combined GDP of 14.951 trillion US dollars. With economists predicting both China and India's growth rates hitting double figures during 2007, how can Brazil compete as an emerging economy with an average growth rate of 3%?

The EBS London International Lectures provide business leaders with an opportunity to hear prominent global business people and public figures from a broad spectrum of backgrounds speak on issues of current and future importance to world business and the economy. Lectures hold over four hundred carefully selected guests, including senior business executives from leading international companies and government agencies. The calibre of our speakers and guests testify to the high reputation of the EBS London Lecture Series.
