Professor Philip Lawrence

Professor Philip Lawrence is Director of the Aerospace
Research Centre at UWE Bristol. Previously he was
Director of the Centre for Aerospace Management at Toulouse
Business School, where he helped to create a new Aerospace MBA.
Philip holds degrees in Sociology, Political Science, Economics
and Engineering. He is an acknowledged expert on the aerospace and
defence industries and has published eight books and more than 100
articles on aerospace, defence, strategy and related subjects.
His latest book is
Deep Stall: the Turbulent Story of Boeing Commercial Airplanes
(2005).
Philip Lawrence works as an adviser and consultant for a number
of aerospace prime companies. He has served the UK government, both
as a member of the UK’s National Defence, Aerospace and System’s
Panel (NDASP) and the DTI Foresight Panel on Aerospace. He is
currently the chair of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s
Management Studies Committee. Professor Lawrence is a fellow of the
Royal Aeronautical Society, the Royal Society of Arts and the NATO
Atlantic Council.
