Piet Steel
Piet Steel is Vice-President
of External Affairs at Toyota Motor Europe. Graduated in Law. He
was Director Public Affairs for the Belgian chemical and
pharmaceutical company Solvay (1997-2005) and a Belgian diplomat.
He was Belgian Consul-General in Hong Kong (1993-97) and Ambassador
of Belgium in Vietnam (1990-1993).
Piet Steel has a long experience with European affairs and
international trade negotiations. He was Chef de Cabinet of the
Belgian State Secretary for European Affairs (1982-85) was
Belgium's Chief Negotiator at the GATT in Geneva during the Uruguay
Round (1986-1990). He is holder of various Belgian and
international honorary medals. He is an iCES Distinguished Visiting
Fellow.
