Application & Pre-Approval Of Courses

Your first direct contact with your host institution before leaving EBS London will be during the application and course-selection process.

Some institutions do not require you to choose your courses beforehand. But knowing what courses are available at your host institution is a good first step. That’s why we ask you to give us a list of courses you would like to take abroad.

Please note that;

  • You must choose your courses from the list provided by the International Partnerships Office (IPO) at EBS London.
  • You cannot enrol in any course similar to those studied at EBS London or already studied during another Study Period Abroad (SPA). Availability of courses are subject to change.
  • When enrolling in a foreign language SPA, all courses must be taught and examined in the foreign language unless otherwise indicated.
  • Once abroad, you must obtain pre-approval by the IPO at EBS London before you are allowed to enrol in your programme. To do so, you must send us your Learning Agreement. This must be done no later than the 2nd week into the programme at your host institution.

How Many Courses Should You Choose

Generally, you will be required to enrol in 4 business courses per semester.

However, workload may vary depending on institutions; please check on the institution's information sheet to know exactly how many courses you must enrol into. Of all the business subjects you choose, one can be replaced by a foreign language course and one by a non-business course (culture, humanities, etc.).

Pass Requirements

Universidad de BarcelonaIn order to pass your SPA, you are required to pass a total of 15 ECTS credits (or equivalent) per semester. Re-sits of examinations and coursework are not available for SPA.

Please note that you must take all your exams. If you do not pass your semester you will be required to retake it.

ECTS Credits

The European credit transfer and accumulation system (ECTS) is a student-centred system which allows recognition of periods of study abroad. ECTS credits are a value allocated to course units to describe the student workload required to complete them.  ECTS credits are allocated to courses and are awarded to students who successfully complete those courses by passing the examinations or other assessments.

Standards & Expectations

Please be aware of the following points before travelling abroad:

  • You must be present at your host institution at the times and dates stated on the institution calendar.
  • You are required to attend the induction week at the SPA host institution and to take exams for all courses you have registered for.
  • You should attend all classes, be punctual and act as good ambassadors of EBS London.
  • You are expected to behave responsibly and follow the academic and social regulations of the host university abroad where you are registered.
