Levels of Study
Language courses are offered at the following levels:
If you have studied the language before please attend one
of our Advice Evenings to be placed at the correct
level.
Beginners
This course is for students with no or very little
knowledge of the language. After successful completion of this
course you will be able to take part in basic factual
conversations, and understand basic instructions and
information.
Lower Intermediate
You have studied the language before, approximately to GCSE
level. By the end of this course you will be able to communicate
about everyday matters, including work-related situations, and be
able to deal with written and spoken texts.
Upper Intermediate
You have studied the language before and have a good basic
knowledge that enables you to communicate about standard
situations, including talking about past events and the future. By
the end of the course you will be able to communicate with greater
fluency and accuracy with native speakers about routine situations
in personal, social and business contexts.
Intermediate Business Language
For professionals and business clients who already have some
knowledge of the language and want to focus on improving their
language skills in a business context. Completing this course will
enable you to use the language for communication in business
contexts, including written communication, and give an insight into
the business culture of countries where the language is spoken.
Advanced
You have a good command of the language and its main grammatical
structures, and have a large enough vocabulary to communicate with
ease about routine subjects, with a good level of accuracy. By the
end of the course you will be able to communicate more fluently
with native speakers, engage in debates and give presentations
using more complex structures, and read more complex texts, in
social and business contexts.
Note: Not all levels may be offered for every
language. The number of levels offered each term depends on demand.
You can enrol for any level. Should the course be under subscribed
you will get a full refund of fees.
