| Course Aims | The module is designed to help students understand and appreciate financial accounting. The key financial statements that are used by managers and shareholders to make informed decisions will be explored in detail. And as an introductory financial accounting module no prior background in accounting and/or finance is required. |

Core Skills ContentThis module will enable students to develop the following skills:
Numerical Skills: How to compute, process and present financial accounting data.
Analytical Skills: How to analyse and make financial accounting decisions.
Application Skills: How do we apply financial accounting information in real-life business situations? And what are the techniques that we use in the interpretation of financial accounting data?
Theoretical Skills: What are the technical terms used in financial accounting and the rules that are applied in the preparation of financial statements?
By studying this module students will also improve their spreadsheet skills by using Excel. |
