Assessment & Grading

It is important to remember the grading scale may be different from the system that you use at home.

Below is an explanation of the grading system used at EBS London and at most higher education institutions in the UK.

Percentage Classification

  • 70%+ : First Class
Exceptional standard of work - this is rarely given
  • 60% – 69% : Upper Second Class
Very good – above average standard, minor errors
  • 50% – 59% : Lower Second Class
Good – overall sound work, but with some errors
  • 40% – 49% : Third Class
Satisfactory – work has met the minimum passing requirements
  • Below 40 : Fail
Work is of an unsatisfactory standard

Attendance

Attendance is expected at all classes at EBS London, and there is an 80% minimum attendance requirement.  Failure to meet the minimum 80% attendance requirement may result in withdrawal from the module and possible expulsion from the School.

Late Coursework

All coursework must be submitted to the Business and Management Faculty Registry on the date/time indicated within the instructions for the particular module.

After that time unless a valid doctor’s certificate or relevant documentation (in case other than illness) has been submitted, the following will apply:

If the assignment achieves a pass mark or above, it will be capped at 40%.

In the absence of submitting a request for extenuating circumstances, no coursework/assessment will be accepted for marking beyond two weeks after the submission date.

All coursework must be submitted with a signed Coursework Cover Sheet, available from the Faculty Registry Office. Students should retain a copy of all coursework submitted.

Collection of Marks

  • Marked coursework will be handed back to students in the lectures or seminar groups.
  • Final transcripts will be sent to your home institution as soon as possible after the published release date. A copy will also be posted to your permanent home address.

"If there is one underlying factor that truly stands out when I reflect on my time at EBS London, it is the feeling that my opinion as a student counted on the MSc course, and that I was encouraged to have an input into the way the programme was taught."
