    International Students Guide

The International Students Guide contains very helpful information.

    Some comments from FGV students:

How does the workload per course vary between EBS-London and FGV?
It is quite the same, both need dedication and study.

How many contact hours per week on average do courses have and how are they split up (lectures / seminars)?
They are either 2 hours or 4 hours per week, it depends on the module. They are mainly lectures and very few seminars.

Where are the lecture notes for courses available from at FGV?
Like EBS (the T drive) there is a drive in which students can have the lecture notes available.

How is information about courses distributed / available to students?
In the internet (in the school website) or with each teacher.

How does the assessment per course vary between EBS-London and FGV?
At FGV there is a final exam in all courses. It is not common to have big individual reports, only big group reports.

Are courses only examined by a final exam?
Not only a final exam, but there is always a final exam. Besides this, there is always a report (often in groups) and a test in the middle of the semester.

Are exams held immediately after classes finish? Is there a long gap before the exams start?
Yes, exams are held immediately after classes finish!

How is each assignment/exam grade distributed to students at FGV?
The assignments during the semester have their grades distributed by the teacher, during lectures. The final exam grades are accessible on the internet during holidays.

  • AccomodationExchange students can choose to live in apartment flats near FGV.

The application for the apartment flats is emailed to students with the registration information.

Students are kindly asked to fax their application 30 days before arrival in So Paulo.

Living with Brazilians is another alternative that provides an excellent opportunity for intense language and cultural exchange.

For those wanting to live with Brazilian students, many options are available, ranging from students living by themselves or with a host family.

The International Exchange Office can help students find suitable accommodations.

Recommended is to live very near the school, because the city is very big and it is not easy to go everywhere. Also, the area is good, safe and you don't get stuck traffic jams (which can be long).

    Services:

What social/sports clubs can students get involved in at FGV?
The school offers sports and associated clubs for a lot of sports, such as football, volleyball, basketball, tennis and swimming.

What are the differences between São Paulo compared to London?
Both are very big. São Paulo has more traffic than in London. The weather is much better in São Paulo, it is warmer and there is sun almost every day. There is also a lot of clubs, pubs, restaurants and other entertainment options.

Recommended specific areas of the town/city to socialise in:
They are called: Vila Madalena and Vila Olimpia.
